welcome to your
admin dashboard
This is the “back end” of your website and where you can manage all of your content, posts, pages & so much more.
Below is some information about how your website works and where you can find detailed instructions on the different ways you can update, manage and use your website.
the basics
Here’s some terminology and links to guides that cover the basics of your website.
The WordPress admin dashboard, often called WP Admin or WP admin panel, is essentially the control panel for your entire WordPress website. It’s where you create and manage content, add functionality in the form of plugins, change styling in the form of themes, and lots, lots more.
If you’re using WordPress, the WordPress admin panel is going to be a big part of your life. For that reason, it’s important to understand where to find the WordPress admin, what it lets you do, and how you can use it to manage your site.
Pages are static. They don’t change very often and contain specific information about your business. Things like About, Contact, Home, Services, FAQ etc.
Add blog posts on your website that can then be shared to social media, and used in your email marketing newsletters.
Blogging is the secret sauce in SEO!
The Media Library is where you manage your images, videos, audio files, PDF’s and any other files you upload to your website.
Under the Media menu, there are two screens.
The first screen Library lists all the files in the media library. These files can be edited and deleted from the library.
The second screen is Add New, which allows you to upload files.
You can also upload media (images, videos, etc) while writing a post or page.
However, the Add New link under allows you to upload files without attaching them to a specific post or page.
We have a few different sections for you to learn more about the Media and the Media Library:
Elementor is the page builder is the tool used to design those gorgeous pages on your website.
When you go to ‘edit’ a page, post, product etc, if you see a notification that says “Elementor is currently active for this page” along with a button “Launch Elementor” – then you MUST MUST MUST use Elementor or your page design will break!!
Don’t panic though – you can quickly get the design back by simply ‘editing’ with Beaver Builder and ‘Publish’ the page.
The Classic Editor is the default editor for WordPress.
On it’s own, it doesn’t give us much design flexibility, which is why we prefer to use a pagebuilder to create our fabulousness!
You still need to learn a little more about it though, as it’s still relevant in some places, including to use within Beaver Builder.
Blog Posts & ecommerce products are typically where you’ll see the Classic Editor being used on it’s own, rather than a page builder.
In saying that, it is absolutely possible to use a page builder for those too.
The tabs at the top of your website are called ‘Menus’ or ‘Navigation’.
We don’t call them ‘Tabs’ – that’s a whole other thing 😉
Depending on the theme used in your website, the Menus should be managed in Appearance > Customiser.
